Mani Parvat

>Mani Parvat is considered to be one of Ayodhya's sacred places due to the many legends and stories that are attached to it. The hillock of Mani Parvat is believed to be a part of the mountain that was carried by Lord Hanuman to Lanka. He carried the mountain as it had the medicinal herb of Sanjivani Booti that could save the life of Lord Lakshmana as he battled death. Being a place of such importance, there is also a temple dedicated to Lord Rama and Goddess Sita at the hillock as well. Along with its significance in Hinduism, Mani Parvat is also an important destination for Buddhism as well. It is believed that the Buddha stayed in Ayodhya for around six years and delivered his sermons at the Mani Parvat. As such one can see a Buddhist monastery as well as stupa, said to have been established by Emperor Ashoka at the hillock. Mani Parvat holds importance for both the religions of Hinduism as well as Buddhism, each with their own stories attached to it, therefore making it one of the must visit places to explore while in the holy city of Ayodhya.
