Dedicated to the revered Hindu poet and saint, Goswami Tulsidas, Tulsi Smarak Bhawan is one of the popular places to visit in Ayodhya. Best known for his work of the Ramcharitmanas and the Hanuman Chalisa written in the Awadhi language, Goswami Tulsidas is considered in high reverence by the devotees of Hinduism. It is believed that it was, while spending time at this site, that he composed the Ramcharitmanas. Tulsi Smarak Bhawan, today, is a repository of Ayodhya's cultural, spiritual, and literary collection, which it proudly displays through prayer meetings and religious discourses. Tulsi Smarak Bhawan also has its own research center called the Ayodhya Shodh Sansthan that includes a library containing within it, the historical and cultural significance of the city of Ayodhya. The research center also organizes an exhibition that showcases various art and craft from the epic of Ramayana as well. One of the main highlights of the Bhawan though, is the performance of Ramleela that takes place here every evening and attracts a number of spectators. Conserving an important piece of history, Tulsi Smarak Bhawan is an essential cornerstone for the city of Ayodhya, working to preserve the city's historic and cultural essence for the newer generations.
