Nageshwarnath Temple

One of the top pilgrimage places in Ayodhya, the Nageshwarnath Temple is dedicated to Nageshwarnath, a form of Lord Shiva who is believed to be the god of serpents and is worshiped in the form of the Shivalinga here. One day, while bathing in the Saryu River, Kush lost his armlet, which was found and returned to him by a Nag Kanya. In an effort to honor her kindness and as an act of gratitude, he constructed the Nageshwarnath Temple at the site after understanding that the Nag Kanya was an ardent devotee of Lord Shiva.
